Still ill

,

Open up the medicine cabinets. Ahhhh.

It has now been day #4 and I am still feeling sick. This cough won't go away - it's haunting me. Went to the doctor yesterday because I had a high temperature (100.0) and got tested for the flu. I was negative, thank the Lord. Nevertheless, all he could say is - eat your chicken noodle soup, drink plenty of fluids, and get a lot of rest.

So that's where I'm at - sleeping half the day away to get better, drinking gallons of water, and eating chicken noodle soup. Nyquil has helped. Vicks rub sorta helps. Ahhhhh.

Because of me - Jess and I are gonna keep it chill on Halloween. We were gonna go to Manhattan last night and tonight for events with Brennan. But I can't seem to get better. Well, on another note - I start work Monday; I'm super pumped. That is another reason we are staying home - to make sure I am well rested for my first week of work...Jess is such a great wife. She cares for me and loves on me all the time...

Anyway, I guess we will see what happens. Hope everyone has a fun & safe Halloween. Charge hard peoples. Make life happen...

Biosphere of Biohazards Infesting Our Lives

,

Today was a rough day. Jess stayed home from work. We were both quite ill.

She had an extreme sore throat, headache, pain in the right side of her neck, tired, achy. I had similar - headache, pain in the right side of my neck, tired, achy, yet I didn't have the sore throat - I have a ridiculous cough. It's weird, they are so similar except the sore throat (vs.) the cough. Who knows if they are the same.

Nevertheless, we have felt like crap the whole day. We got a Vicks Vapor Steamer with lavender scent, I put on Vicks Vapor Rub, we both had some throat candies, i had some delsym, she had some throat numbing spray. We both drank like 4 bottles of water each. Had some O.J. Tried to eat healthy. Slept the whole day away. A little prayer. And now we feel one hundred times better.

I seriously don't know what the issue was today. It was so weird. And yeah, we don't feel 100% yet but a lot better. We are thankful. It was a good day spent together, even though we were both ill. And Quigg was hangin like usual. So - tomorrow is a new day. A new breath of fresh air. And its supposed to be sunny - today it rained. Let's hope it is a refreshing morning. Good night all.

Quiggly vs. Mammoth Raccoon

,

UFC - Live Match: The Quigg (vs.) Bearcoon
The other day, last Saturday that is, Quigg and I woke up for her morning stroll in the backyard. She usually runs fast around the corner to go tinkle. Fortunately, she was slow moving that day and walked with me.

We turned the corner of the house and BAM! I'm not lying to you - there was a mammoth raccoon (40-50 lbs.) sitting in our driveway starring at Quiggly and me. I said, "Quiggly come!" Because she started to slowly move toward it like a huntress. She obediently heard my voice and turned around and I flicked her up into my arms and she immediately peed.

We then all starred at each other and the mammoth turned around and trotted into our backyard. I followed it with Quiggly in my arms. We watched the bear climb the fence into the other yard. It was absolutely insane! I have never seen a bigger raccoon in my life. It seriously looked like a small bear! It was twice the length of Quiggly and twice the thickness with a thick fur coat.

Now, at night, I usually go in the yard with a headlamp (thanks Uncle Steve) and a walking stick to ward off skunks and other small animals in the line of defense against Quigg. Let me tell you - that walking stick would have done nothing against this giant BEARCOON! What the heck is wrong with the outdoor creatures up here!?!?!

To be continued...

Series 7 Exam

,

PASSSED THE EXAM!

Well, after 3 months of studying and sitting around - I finally move forward by the grace and strength of God! That's right folks - finally took the Series 7 Exam for the second time and I actually passed! God is so good.

I tell you what - what you sow you will reap. Seriously. God honors His word - He is faithful. Charge hard in all things - glorifying Him in all you do! Anyway, these last two days have been so stressful. If you only knew....

Jess, Quiggly and I came home from Manhattan and collapsed - took a MUCH NEEDED 2 hour nap. Now, I am still exhausted, but whenever I take a nap - I can't seem to sleep at night. That is exactly why I am still up at 3:07 a.m.!!!! Ahhh. Oh well. So yeah - I sent in my scores to my office and will hopefully start work this week! I am so ecstatic!

This process has been going on since the end of June. That's right peoples - I interviewed at the end of June, processed paper work for decades, took the exam for the first time and had to take it again. It's been such a process! Nevertheless, I am so thankful for being finished with this tedious red tape! Blastoff into your dreams! Goodnight all. Count all your blessings. He is good!

Lukewarm is Never Good. Let's Change.

Revelation 3:15-17

"15I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked."

It's easy to find yourself living a mediocre life - spiritually - not even realizing the eyes of your heart are slowly decaying. Some people are just one side or the other - that can be dangerous, too. Let's re-evaluate today. Take 15 minutes to meditate, pray, stand still. Stop doing. Start thinking & praying. Nothing going on - no music, no activities, no one around you. A stand still moment in time to just inhale life.

American Academy of Dramatic Arts

,

"My Sister in this House."

American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Last night, Brennan invited us to his school to see a play.

Apparently it was based off a real story. It was done really well. The actresses really got into character. The underlying parallelisms and motifs were interesting - even though it was a real story - you could still analyze it.

The play was really intense - two sisters get to be maids for a wealthy woman and her child - and it tracks their lives and how stressful it is - moreso, how the wealthy had nothing more to do than check to see if they dusted under tables and how being the "upper class" made you into a robot. Well, ends up the two sisters have a relationship with each other and murder the wealthy woman and her daughter.

Like the whole story was natural & understandable for the circumstances. Then, all of a sudden it was like everything went haywire and people flipped out. Absolutely ridonkulous. Can't believe it was a real story. Blows my mind.

Anyway, afterward we went to this dank Thai restaurant with an addition of one of Brennan's British friends. It's always fun jumpin in the car and goin down to Manhattan. Good times.

Colby & Justin - Fight Scene

,

Another Pre-historic Video Shot in College. Good Times.

This scene has many deleted frames that got lost in the harddrive. It's quite unfortunate but yeah - it is still fun to watch. It's pretty funny because Tyler was sitting there watching like basketball the whole time & drinking sweet tea. Cracks me up...

First Contact w/Outside World

,

Yeah, we had the most intense insect I have ever seen - walking along our ceiling board-thing. Dude - it was freaky. I didn't know what it was - I mean I thought it was a centipede but I wasn't used to seeing a centipede with giant arms - running mock 10. But yeah it's called a HOUSE CENTIPEDE.

Apparently they just come out at night and are rare unless you have insects for them to eat, which we do - we have had a minor issue with fruit flies. They are so annoying. They spawn instantaneously - no joke. I have developed some traps - wine in glasses - they fall in sniffing the delicacies, banana peel in the oven on low heat, etc. etc. They don't seem to stop spawning. I now spray them with cleaning spray and they fall from the sky suffocating.

Oh well, that was our gnarly beast that arose from the cave the other night. Don't be scared - they don't bite humans - but they are freaks of nature. The end.

Where The Wild Things Are

,

The other day we went and saw, "Where the Wild Things Are."

What a great movie - seriously. Movies are so ridiculous lately and they are all rated R. Finally, a good-clean movie is released that is not only entertaining, but brings you back to childhood. It was actually sad - just because it brought back so many memories.

Anyway, afterward, Jess and I built a fort in our living room. We decided it was a good idea to sleep out in our fort. So Jess, Quiggly, and I cuddled up for the night and enjoyed a long rested sleep. These are a few pictures from the night.

Review

,

Today we start a new tab - Review.

Jess and I review movies, books, magazines, music, technology, software, merchandise, whatever really! So if you need a review on something - post it as a comment and we will try to get you a review - or even post your own reviews as comments!
It is good to have reviews before purchasing, downloading, reading, watching etc. - it will save you time and money!

Let's throw up a review of the new Jack Black movie, "Year One."

MOVIE TRAILER, "Year One."

"Year One," what a ridiculous movie. First of all, wow, well there was a lot of random inappropriate language - meaning you wouldn't want to watch it with your mother, really weird sexual comments...Secondly, they try to joke a lot of Biblical allusions & that time period in general, which could get aggravating after a while. I must admit it was hilarious most of the time - but overall wasn't what I was expecting. Truthfully, before I watched it, I had no idea what the movie was about.

Basically, Jack Black & that other famous actor dude leave their tribe to find their meaning in life. They end up stumbling upon all the famous stories of the beginning of the Old Testament, i.e. Cane & Abel, Abraham & Isaac, etc.

They then run into three people from their tribe & try to save them from slavery - but end up in slavery themselves. Next, they end up as soldiers for the city of Sodom (another allusion to the Bible) and find themselves in so many more ridiculous circumstances. I won't ruin the end for you if you watch it but yeah...

I personally give it half a thumb out of two thumbs up. The message Jack Black tries to present is that - everyone has a purpose in life & you can achieve it whether people are with you or not - take the harsh comments & all the attacks - even if you don't look like you can achieve your dreams/goals - push onward & things will fall into place - never give up even when you find yourself in weird, unusual circumstances - another door will open. This message was cool. The end.

MOVIE TRAILER: Michael Jackson

Community

Community. Small Group.

On Friday - we had our first small group meeting. We met in an interesting location in the city. It is a couples group - filled with some gnarly people. Each couple seems like they have had their own tv show or been in a movie. Jess and I feel like we already know them from some where.

Anyway, one dude is a stand up comedian (clean), one guy is a videographer for the medical field, one chick & one dude both work in a gymnasium - they said it's the homeless hangout. Apparently all the homeless people in the city have gym memberships because its super cheap - $70/mo. - compared to insane rent somewhere else - so they get hot showers with provided towels and sleep in there during the day, etc., etc. and then go out on the town at night. Pretty smart if you ask me.

Another guy works doing audio on the Jimmy Fallon Show. He told us to come to the set one day and he will show us around when the show finishes! Super cool! Another chick does career center stuff at NYU. One couple - the chick's family were missionaries to Peru and she met her husband down there - so now they go back and forth each year to Peru - pretty cool. Anyway, it's extremely diverse - tons of fun - gonna dig in God's word. We are stoked. Finally getting grounded in a community! Thank the Lord. He is good. Always. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Keep acting in faith & obedience. I'm out.

Current. Pet BEAR Kills a Lady.

So last week - I forgot to mention a pet bear killed some lady in Pennsylvania. They had it in a 15 x 15 cage and like passed inspections, etc. - but ridonkulous! They also had permits to keep an African Lion & a Bengal Tiger. What the crap people! Exotic pets are exotic for a reason.

Here's the link to the horrific story.

PET BEAR MAULS LADY
EXOTIC PETS FOR SALE

I think the exotic pets I would own would be a giraffe, a shark, a monkey, a kangaroo & some penguins. Not all in one cage. Of course I would let the giraffe graze a giant field and hang out running up and down some hills. I would have the penguins in my house running around & I would have a shark in a pool - that would be cool. I would have the kangaroo on my front porch to kangaroo kick thieves, & I would have a monkey follow me around every where I go. Anyway, that was light talk - but on a more serious note - that is super sad to be mauled by a bear. That is super gruesome and sad. Pay tribute. Read the story.

On another note - check out this gnarly SHARK SUIT - some dude made to go under water like a submarine - yet it's a shark. CRAZY!

Famous. Tony Douglas.

Yeah baby - I totally forgot my boiiii Tony got drafted to the New York Knicks. The New York Knicks play at Madison Square Garden. If Jess and I ever stumble across some cash on the ground, then you best believe we are gonna hit up one of those games and have a little chat with Tony-boi.

VIDEO ON TONY's SUMMER LEAGUE PLAY

In case you are unaware of FSU Basketball trivia, Tony Douglas romped on kids the last couple years as FSU's point guard. Tony is laced with skill & success - hahaha we can only hope - nevertheless, I am quite excited to see him in NBA motion. I wonder if he will get dominated or keep up with everyone.

On another note, if you are a Nole out there - I found this hilarious blog from our basketball team going to Spain. Luke blogs about their adventures - it is humorous. It's always fun to actually "hear the voice" of that player on the court. Check it out!

FSU BASKETBALL: BLOG ON SPAIN TRIP

Enjoy folks. I'm stoked for FSU basketball. That's where it's at for me. I absolutely love watching those guys. I miss the Nole Zone - didn't even take advantage of it last year...oh well.

Song of the Month: Regina Spektor - "Laughing With"

"No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one laughs at God
When the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one’s laughing at God
When it’s gotten real late
And their kid’s not back from the party yet

No one laughs at God
When their airplane start to uncontrollably shake
No one’s laughing at God
When they see the one they love, hand in hand with someone else
And they hope that they’re mistaken

No one laughs at God
When the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news, sir
No one’s laughing at God
When there’s a famine or fire or flood

*Chorus*
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
Ha ha
Ha ha

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’ve lost all they’ve got
And they don’t know what for

No one laughs at God on the day they realize
That the last sight they’ll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes
No one’s laughing at God when they’re saying their goodbyes
But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughing at God in hospital
No one’s laughing at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God when they’re starving or freezing or so very
poor

No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
We’re all laughing with God."

What if Quiggly was in the NYC Halloween Dog Parade? She hates other dogs - I was thinking we could dress her up as a female vampire - she'd have real life blood sucking tactics and she has the ears of Batty! Anyone got any ideas?

Even if Quiggly doesn't do the NYC Halloween Dog Parade - she is still getting a costume for Halloween. What would be a fun and appropriate costume? Please leave comments.

"The Famous Met" - The Great Gatsby - 1920's College Party @ The Metropolitan Museum
FREE. FREE. FREE. FREE. FREE. FREE.

Last night Jess, Brennan, Brennan's actor friends and I all went to this insane event at the Met. It was for college students only and everyone dressed up like they were in the 1920's. There were drinks & crumpets & live music on a piano & bass & dancing and all of it was located in this huge room with a long pool & these pyramid things (real pyramids reconstructed) and awesome lighting - it was insane - felt like a movie.

Nevertheless, the actual event was an opening of a new wing - "the American Wing" or something like that...so we also had a grand tour of the artifacts from old and enjoyed more strawberries & then hit the road home...

NYC has so many little cool events - it's impossible to have time & money for them all - but trust me, when there is a FREE event - we will be there!

I will post pictures later tonight!

NOTE: some random chick took the pictures and is sending them to Jess on Facebook - once I get them I will tell you all to check em out!
